TSA Pre-Check vs CLEAR

clash of the titans: what's the difference and which one should you get.

You all when I ask you to explain the difference:

TBH, I may or not have had to Google Chat GPT this a while back.

But now I’m an expert and can tell you what you need to know.

what’s the difference, buddy?

TSA PreCheck speeds up security screening with reduced checks, while CLEAR uses biometrics to skip the ID line.

CLEAR helps with the ID line, PreCheck with the actual security check.

How many of you knew that?

So which is better?

IMO, PreCheck is way better.

While CLEAR gets you through the long security line quickly, the full screening you have to do is super annoying.

Meanwhile, PreCheck has a shorter security line and the screening is SO easy.

But ready for your mind to be blown?

You can get both.

For those rare scenarios where I’ve waited more than 5 minutes in the PreCheck line, I can ENSURE I won’t waste a second of my precious time by having both.

Now, this can get pricey.

  • PreCheck is $85 for 5 years.

  • CLEAR is $199/year…

Lots of cards have PreCheck credits, notably the one I put most of my spending on.

However, PreCheck just isn’t that expensive and everyone should just get it.

$17/year!

One great perk of the Amex Platinum card is an annual CLEAR credit!

The bottom line:

If you travel a lot, you should probably have both. The Amex Platinum card will be a great way for you to save some money on your newfound convenience!

Nothing more joyful than rushing through airport security to sit and wait while your flight gets randomly delayed.

Enjoy.
