A new era + Hawaii deal.
Free trip to Hawaii + free tips to get there cheap if you don't win.
Welcome to the new Go Somewhere.
Writing this on beehiiv, the platform that will take this newsletter to the next level.
I can do cool things like this:
“You can catch a fly with honey, but you can catch more honeys being fly.”
And this:
(One of the coolest Youtube videos ever).
The overall user experience of this platform is way better than Substack.
Without further ado, let’s get into today’s topic:
The wildly confusing way to book insanely cheap flights to Hawaii.
Before we talk about cheap flights to Hawaii, what if someone just paid for you to go?
The Daily Drop is doing that right now.

This property looks incredible:
Well, if you don’t win (because I do) and you still want to see me in Hawaii, here’s how to find flights there for 10,000 points one-way from almost any city in the U.S.
(For the uninitiated, that’s a WILD deal).
Fun Colin Stroud Travel trivia… My first “viral” travel post on LinkedIn was about this very topic back in September 2023, 1 year ago.
Let’s hope it generates similar buzz.
Step 1:
Create an account with Turkish Airlines Miles n’ Smiles.
This can be horrible. They are so hard to deal with.
You should eventually see this:
Click, “Award ticket - Buy a ticket with Miles.”
Then, make sure to click “Star Award Ticket.”
Step 2:
Go to United’s website.
Why? We’re going to find Star Alliance award availability through United.
The goal is to fly United (not Turkish) from the U.S. to Hawaii.
We can use United to find a monthly view like this:
We will only find availability with Turkish when United has a Saver Award fare.
I saw there is one available January 6, 2025. Great.
Now, I go back to the Turkish website and put it in…
Yay! 10,000 points one-way to Hawaii, what a steal!
That same flight in Economy is $644 one-way.
So, it’s not always that easy.
Sometimes you see a Saver Award fare on United and it doesn’t show up with Turkish… try, try, try, again.
This is a KILLER deal.
So, there are only two cards that transfer to Turkish Airlines:
Citi
This card from Capital One is perhaps my favorite - I put 90% of my daily spending on it (to snag deals like this one).
Also, it includes a limited time $250 travel credit if you sign up before September 9th.
Do it quickly, this card is a winner!
That’s all I have for you today.
If you want more from me:
I’m here to serve you.
Let me know how you like the new look!
