Mind-blowing card offers & why/how you should try slow travel.

Turns out some planes have windows in the bathroom?

[Go Somewhere: Volume 19]Welcome back, everyone. Hope you’re ready to learn!

It’s been a big week for me…

—> Several travel consult calls booked.

—> I’m interviewing a Hyatt employee and sharing it here!

—> I’m going on my first podcast next week.

—> I’m deep-diving into some new aspects of travel hacking.

—> I’m steadily gaining followers on LinkedIn and new subs here.

Thankful for all of you. For showing that I’m bringing you real value!

Let’s get into the substance for this week!

But first: Did you know Delta has planes with windows in the bathroom? So cool.

They’re really trying to get us with these offers.

Is it just me? Or is every credit card company pulling out the stops right now?

There are so many elevated offers. So many cards I would love to get with incredible benefits.

Here are some of the best:

—> Southwest Cards: I mean they’re giving away a companion pass + 30k points after spending $4k in 3 months.

—> Marriot Bonvoy Boundless: I discussed this one at length last week. 5 FREE NIGHTS. Spend $5k in 3 months. Insane.

—> Capital One Venture X Business: Well, this one doesn’t really count because you’d have to spend $100k to get it. But you could get a 300k mile bonus. Unheard of.

—> World of Hyatt Card: Elevated 65k bonus offer. This could potentially get you 18 nights in a Category 1 hotel. $3k spend requirement.

—> IGH One Card: I haven’t said much about IHG. Here are some ideas on how to use their points. They own Holiday Inn! 165k point bonus after spending $3k.

—> Alaska Airlines Card: 70k bonus + Alaska companion pass after spending $3k. This bonus could get you first class on Cathay Pacific Airlines L.A to Tokyo. Cash prices for that ticket are about $12,000.

—> Capital One Venture: This one’s been at 75k bonus points for a while. And it’s always great. So click my link if you want.

So, because I’m not a very savvy businessman, I don’t have paid affiliate links for any of these. But I will soon.

Because I know many of you will ask! I’d encourage you to sign up for any of these - but not all… Be responsible!

Slow down, slow travel.

I was a *dawg* on Slow Ride on Guitar Hero - it was by far the easiest song though.

Slow gets a bad rap. But it can be so good.

There’s a trend going around right now about “Slow Travel”.

Slow travel rejects the concept of trying to see as much humanly possible on a trip. It rejects the 5 cities in 7 days Europe extravaganza trip that leaves you exhausted & stressed.

Slow travel is something to try. Instead of that crazy Europe trip, it might be staying in a small town in France for 2 weeks and just, living.

Sounds pretty nice to me.

And nothing has made this more possible than remote work.

I work remotely, and the only things stopping me from working the next month from a cute apartment on the beach in San Diego are 1) money and 2) I have a toddler.

See, slow/longer travel is expensive. If you look at what an Airbnb costs for a month vs what you could rent the same place for per month with a 12-month lease, it’s staggering.

A house that would long-term rent for 2,000/mo costs $3,700/mo on Airbnb.

This website helps you find furnished (obviously) rentals for a minimum of 1 month with MUCH better rates than Airbnb.

How? These are considered mid-term rentals, not short-term rentals.

Let’s check out an example.

This is what I want to do. Spend the month of April in Pensacola.

This place is 15 minutes from the beach, right next to Chic-fil-A (always a good sign), and super close to downtown.

It’s $1,980 for the month.

All the Airbnbs I’m seeing in the SAME neighborhood are between $2,700-$3,500 for the month.

Trust me, if you want to stay a month somewhere, don’t use Airbnb.

Also, if you’ve never thought of going somewhere for a month on a “Workation”, I’d encourage you to try - especially if you don’t have a toddler!

You can thank me later.

I’ll take a week off of memes and leave you here.
