How to use seats.aero to find ridiculous flight deals.
Sadly, this is not sponsored.
A few things are staples of my daily routine:
Coffee (w/whole milk + coconut sugar)
Reading my toddler fun books.
Finding spicy deals on seats.aero.
Seats.aero is (in my humble opinion), the best points & miles software on the market.
I don’t think I’ve done client research without it for months.
I’m going to break down all it’s secrets and how to use it like a pro.
But first, you may ask, “Colin, what client research are you doing?”
Well, I have this awesome service where you come to me with your points & miles (hopefully 250k+) and tell me about your dream trip, then I make it happen.
Check out the details here.
Don’t waste hours trying to find the best deals yourself. Let me handle it.
Seats.aero, king of travel software
Seats.aero is the best & fastest award search tool on the market.
I use it to scan the major airline loyalty programs quickly to find deals. It save me from having to go look at each airline’s individual website.
Instead, I can search 7 airlines at once and be direct right to their website from seats.aero.
Seats.aero is FREE to everyone, but it’s 100% worth paying for the pro version. You get so many more resources, and it’s only $9.99/mo.
If you’re at all serious about finding flight deals just go ahead and get it.
Use this link and I think I get a free month. Again, I don’t get paid by them, but I totally should. So if anyone has a connection there, email me ASAP!
Using the explore tab:
This is the best place to start.
So simple & beautiful, eh? These are the major airline programs seats.aero supports. You can see what bank points transfer to which airlines!
So, if you only have Chase points, you know not to at Qantas & Turkish.
I just set up a simple search:
North America —> Europe with Air Canada Aeroplan, showing availability for the next full year, departing from either Detroit or Chicago to anywhere in Europe.
Boom. Look at all these business class options for only 60k points one-way!
You then can click on the information icon on the far right side of the screen where you’ll be taken directly to Air Canada’s website to book.
Let’s look at another example.
I was searching for a way for my client to fly Emirates Business Class to Dubai out of Dallas and I found some availability from partner airline Qantas!
The cool thing here? It’s significantly less points than Emirates charges! Seats.aero helped me quickly find the cheapest way to book an Emirates business class seat.
Using the search tab:
This is one of the best tools in all of award travel right here:
SO many things you can do with this and I’ll surely lose your attention if I show you all of them.
Here’s a good example:
Say you live on the east of the U.S. and you desperately want to fly business class to Paris but you can’t find availability out of your home airport.
With this tool, you can quickly search from 5+ cities/airports!
You can also search specific dates or +/- a certain amount of days.
Check out my search:
We got some decent options in business class, though availability was sparse:
Better availability in premium economy!
As you can see, this tool is just wonderful.
Alerts:
I won’t go into detail, but you can use seats.aero to get alerts to flights you want to book!
This is great to set up for business class flights 1 year out, so you can be the first to snag them before all the other points & miles nerds grab them.
It’s funny when people on LinkedIn ask me to, “Work my magic.”
Lol, the magic is 80% seats.aero.
But the other 20% is magic…
Here’s some downsides of seats.aero:
Not every airline program is supported (Avianca LifeMiles, where are you?)
You can only use it for major airports.
Many great award deals that exist on the websites do not show up on seats.aero.
You can use seats.aero till you’re blue in the face, but if you don’t have a deep understanding how every airline program and airline alliances, you will miss great deals.
I’ve spent countless hours becoming an expert in those programs, and I’d love to take the burden off of you.
If you’re sitting on 250k+ points with a bank and want me to ensure you get the best bang for your buck, check out my trip planning services.
God bless you all, thanks for the support!
