How to get hotel status.
highly recommended for people who want to feel really cool at check in.
Having status with an airline or hotel is pretty cool.
They give you a ton of perks (sometimes).
Today I’ll teach you how to get status with some different hotel brands and how to enjoy top-tier status perks without having status.
Let’s dive into it.
Why do you want hotel status?
Because it feels awesome to be treated like a king.
Perks of status:
Waived fees.
Suite upgrades (the biggest thing).
Lounge access.
Free meals.
Earn more points.
& much more.
Here’s everything you get with Marriott’s top status: Ambassador

Only way to get this is 100 nights/year + $23k in spend. Most people will never hit that, unfortunately, so these people are HIGHLY rewarded.
But, this shows you how good things can get.
How can a normal person get hotel status?
1) Credit card spending.
2) Staying nights in hotels.
3) Premium credit cards.
Credit Card Spending:
This doesn’t apply to most people, but if you can put all of your spending on some hotel’s credit cards and earn status through spend.
For example, if you stay 4 nights a year in a Hyatt and spending $100k on their card, you’ll earn Hyatt Globalist status!
But, Globalist is their top level, you don’t even need to get the top level status to enjoy the benefits.
With significantly less spend, you could earn Hyatt Explorist status.
Staying in hotels:
This one is pretty obvious… If you travel more than 10 nights a year, I’d recommend being loyal to a brand.
You can earn IHG, Hyatt, and Marriott status with just 10 nights/year!
You don’t have to travel weekly to earn status.
Premium credit cards:
Some cards grant you status just for having the card.
The best example of this has to be the Hilton Honors Aspire Card.

Just for opening the card, you’re given Hilton’s highest status!
The Marriott Bonvoy Brilliant card gives you auto Platinum Elite status!

Best perk here in my opinion? The lounge access. If you’re scrappy this card + lounge access could get you breakfast, lunch, and dinner (at certain properties).
“Normal” people would have to stay 50 nights at a Marriott to get this status - you can do it by just getting a credit card.
Pretty cool, eh?
A cool hack to get elite benefits without having ANY status.
Dang, Hyatt is just so good.
One unique thing about their program: guest of honor awards.
This allows someone with Globalist status to gift you Globalist status for your next stay!
I’m staying HERE in March!

And a friend just gave me a guest of honor award.
Sooooo, I’ll get:
Free parking
Free breakfast
Suite upgrade
No resort fees
4pm checkout
Bunch of other cool stuff
This is an amazing way to level up your trip.
Though, it does require having friends with Hyatt Globalist status (I do I guess!).
If you have a Hyatt stay coming up, start asking around if anyone you know has a Guest of Honor award.
There’s a million more things to say about hotel status, but hopefully this helps you get started. Cheers!
