Here’s exactly how to find & book a business-class flight to Europe for only 34,000 points one-way (with minimal taxes + fees).
Spoiler: It’s on Ibera, a Spanish airline.
Iberia is in the Oneworld alliance, so the easiest way to search for award availability is on American Airline’s website.
You should be able to find this deal from Boston, Chicago, & Miami. I’m looking at Chicago.
Go to aa.com, search your city to Madrid, go to the calendar view and filter nonstop only and business/first class.
Sadly, availability is SPARSE. But, it’s there.
Let’s check out January 27, 2025.
HURRY. Just one seat left!
The keys here:
Availability in business class.
Flight is nonstop + operated by Iberia.
Now let’s go to Iberia’s website.
FOUND IT!
By the way, you’ll need an account to view this (it’s free).
This will run you 34,000 points + $130.90.
And the cash price?
$4,733!!!
You’d be getting over 13 cents per point on this. That’s insane.
There’s a lot of hoopla and hubub about business class flights - then, when you go to look, it doesn’t actually work.
I’m here to tell you this actually works.
Now, if you’re wondering how to transfer points to Iberia?
Every major bank transfers to British Airways.
BA & Iberia use the same currency (Avios).
You can transfer points to BA, then over to Iberia.
Here’s the card I’d recommend to earn enough points for two of these ASAP.
