Go Somewhere: Volume 16

The biggest mistake people make with their points & how to get BOGO flights for a year. šŸ˜®

Happy Friday to almost 300 of you.

Itā€™s not too late to get Spirit flights to Vegas for the Super Bowl.

Prices are actually quite reasonable?

But if you want to fly private, thereā€™s no more parking spots left.

Iā€™m here to inspire you to travel more, for less money.

So whether or not you want to go to Vegas, youā€™re gonna love this newsletter.

Letā€™s flyšŸ‘‡

The biggest mistake that I you people make with your points.

Some people hoard their points so badly there should be a TV show about them.

Donā€™t do this.

While points are a currency, I would be careful treating them like money - judiciously saving all the time.

Like money (but worse), points are constantly devalued.

For example, Turkish Airlines used to have incredible deals to fly business class to Europe.

In about a week, those prices will double.

If you were saving up points for that special redemption, you wonā€™t get it.

This happens all the time.

And then new deals show up.

So hereā€™ my big advice.

Live in the present. Spend your points freely and quickly.

Itā€™s simply not worth sitting on points waiting for the ā€œperfectā€ opportunity.

This is both a life & a points lesson.

Iā€™m sitting on too many points right now and worried about ā€œblowingā€ them on a weekend trip to Florida or something.

Hereā€™s the thing, if youā€™re redeeming them for any kind of travel that brings you closer to your family, youā€™re not blowing them.

Class adjourned.

Buy one, get one freeā€¦ flights.

The only thing better than BOGO First Watch is BOGO flights.

Especially on Southwest, my 2nd favorite airline.

Right now, all the Southwest credit cards are offering the companion pass alongside a modest sign-up bonus.

This gets you unlimited BOGO flights for any travel partner of your choice until next February.

This is an unbelievable deal. Simply unreal.

This companion pass is extremely hard to earn usually and is one of the best benefits that exists in airline rewards.

You simply have to consider getting this.

Just get one of Southwestā€™s cards (all have some annual fee), hit the spending bonus, and get your pass!

And hereā€™s the most fun part - this works with Southwest points bookings.

Flying from Columbus to San Diego this summer would cost me around $500, but only 30,000 points. I could use Southwest points or transfer Chase points to Southwest, book a $500 flight for 30k points and get the NEXT ONE FREE.

Well, I have to pay $5.60 in taxes & fees so my Dad can assure me that ā€œnothing is free, son.ā€

I hope you sleep well tonight.

But man, Iā€™ll be disappointed if you sleep on this deal.
