Go Somewhere: Volume 15

Fly across the country for 7,500 points. Fly like a rich guy in the most luxurious first-class seat in the world (hint: it's not a seat).

Happy Friday friends.

I hope to give you one idea this week that gives you the ability to book a trip tomorrow.

And one that becomes an aspirational trip in the future.

A simple one. And an aspirational one.

Because half the fun of traveling is the dreaming, not the going.

I’m here to help you all accomplish your travel dreams.

Let’s go somewhere.

Fly anywhere in the United States for 7,500 points each way.

You heard me right, kids.

It can be done.

Using Capital One, Bilt, or Citi points.

Transferred to the very obscure Turkish Airlines loyalty program.

With Turkish, you can fly to any city in the U.S. for 15,000 points round trip.

That includes some bootleg city in Kansas to Honolulu.

The hard part - finding availability.

So how does this work? Since Turkish Airlines partners with United, you can book United flights through Turkish.

United flys all over the U.S (obviously), so the network is massive.

Check this out - flying from my home of Columbus to Honolulu this weekend for 7,500 miles one way.

I’m not lying to you.

I think the easiest way to find availability is to search on the Turkish website for dates very close to the current day and very far in advance.

There isn’t much in the middle…

The online blogger types claim that if you find a “saver award” on the United website, it will be available to book through Turkish - if you call - but I’ve found that is not usually true.

I’ve spent hours on phone with Turkish so you don’t have to.

And I need your help.

We need to convince my wife that it’s a fiscally and filially responsible thing for a friend and me to do a weekend trip to Hawaii.

Literally fly in Saturday, fly out Sunday.

15,000 points would cover it. And we’ll camp or something.

I say why not?

How to fly like a (really) rich guy

There’s me spending 30 hours in United’s economy class on a weekender to Hawaii, then there’s the opposite.

What I’m going to tell you about.

This is the pinnacle of air luxury - dare I say better than private.

Emirates first class.

Open bar, showers, 5-star dining, giant lay flat beds/seats.

This costs $15,000 each way. Let that sink in…

But you can book it with American Express points for 186,000 points + $800 in taxes and fees.

I know that’s a lot. But it’s not an unattainable number. And it’s a fraction of the cash price.

Imagine you and your spouse saving up the points and cash (wouldn’t take that long) to fly in luxury most of the world couldn’t dream of.

It’s possible with points.

To find availability, use seats.aero, then confirm on the Emirates website.

I found availability in March pretty easily.

If anyone’s serious about booking this reach out to me on LinkedIn and I’ll talk you through it.

If not, just know it’s out there .

For those of you who want to go deep on travel hacking.

I’m opening up a few paid consulting calls this month.

Reach out to me on LinkedIn or at [email protected] for more information.

Until next week!
