Use business credit cards to earn mountains of points.

This will benefit 100% of readers, not just business owners.

Fun life update: I got upgraded to Delta first-class randomly and it was amazing.

The best part? Your drinks are in a glass, not a plastic cup. Massive difference for me.

Also the seat doesn’t stop all blood flow to your legs, that’s nice.

You need a business credit card.

“But I’m just a normal gal, I don’t own a business.”

Great. No problem.

You can earn mountains of points with business credit cards, even if you don’t own a Fortune 500 company.

Today, I’ll cover:

  • Who can get a business card.

  • How to earn a ton of points with business cards.

  • The reason you’re scared of business cards.

  • The best business cards to get today.

Who can get a business card:

You.

Yes, anyone can have a business. All the banks want from you is a social security number.

You can be paid to walk your Granny’s dog and get a business credit card as a sole proprietor.

It’s truly not more complicated than that.

I got a business card VERY early after starting my business - I was approved despite making very little money and have very few expenses.

I get a lot of questions about this - I have yet to encounter someone who can’t qualify for a business credit card.

How to earn a ton of points with business cards:

Generally, you’ll earn points with business cards the same way you will with personal cards.

Sign up bonuses, spending, and referral bonuses.

But here’s the thing.

Everything’s bigger in Texas business.

Bigger bonuses, more earning from every dollar, and larger referrals.

Remember, when paired with the Chase Sapphire Preferred card, this cash-back card’s bonus can become Chase Ultimate Rewards points.

90,000 UR points can take you a LONG way.

Also, this card earns better than the Sapphire Preferred. 1.5% back on every purchase is great!

The reason you’re scare of business cards.

Amex, Capital One, Chase, and many airlines + hotels all have very lucrative offers on business cards.

However, you’ve likley ignored them because you’re, “Not a business owner.”

You are.

Like I said earlier, anyone can get a business card.

The other reason you haven’t gotten one is because you don’t think you have enough business expenses to hit the minimum spend to get the bonus.

Well, that may be true.

But there's a few things to consider…

  1. This isn’t the IRS we’re dealing with, it’s Chase.

It is 100% illegal to deduct personal expenses as business expenses, but it isn’t to use a business credit card for personal expenses.

Now, let me be very clear, Chase says you cannot use business cards for personal expenses.

But the credit card community on Reddit has some alternative thoughts…

I do not put strictly personal expenses on my business credit card.

But I’m am totally fine with putting “gray area” purchases on the card to earn points that I would not try and deduct on my taxes.

For example, I’m going to Utah soon with my family for vacation.

That trip is all going on the business card.

I’m not going to try and deduct the expenses because it’s mostly fun/personal. But I’ll be shooting content there, meeting with people to work on my business, and sharing updates of my travels with all of you.

I have no problem putting that on my business credit card.

  1. You can pay your taxes with your business card.

If you’re not comfortable doing what I do, but you make solid money from your side business, pay your taxes with your business credit card to hit the minimum spend!

There’s a small fee, but it’s worth it.

My whole tax bill in 2023 was from side hustle income, so I paid it with my card to hit the spending requirement for a big bonus!

The best business cards to get today:

  1. 100% this Chase card I won’t shut up about.

  2. The Chase Ink Business Preferred.

    • $95 annual fee.

    • Fat bonus.

    • Lots of great benefits.

  3. The big daddy of all credit cards. Check it out if you dare.

Well, that’s all I’ve got for you on business cards.

An advanced credit card strategy will likely involve 1-2 business cards. They’re just so good.
