Bad + good news about the best hotel program for points.

Do you want the good news or bad news first?

I wake up happy, daily.

Then when I see points devaluations, I weep.

Then I remember there are countless great ways to use points, and my tears are no more.

Today I want to share some important updates about the World of Hyatt points program.

What’s the big deal?

None of this is too big a deal, but it’s a reminder of an important lesson.

Points are devalued all the time.

Which means?

You need to be using your points. If you let them just build up, they LOSE value.

My client just booked 7 nights at the Grand Hyatt Kauai, one of the most beautiful Hyatt properties in the world.

You can book this hotel for just 25,000 points per night as a Category 7 hotel.

Sadly, it’s bumping up to Category 8, meaning it will start at 35,000 points per night.

Hyatt categories, for reference:

That’s right, on March 25th, 118 Hyatt hotels are going up a category.

BUT, and this is crazy, some hotels are going down a category. Notably, the Grand Hyatt Kauai’s younger cousin, the Hyatt Regency Maui.

It’s dropping from a Category 7 to 6, meaning it can be booked for as low as 21,000 points per night.

That’s dirt cheap for Hawaii. So not all bad news here!

Other hotels like the Park Hyatt St. Kitts are staying put in the same category. Relief!

A reminder about Hyatt:

As you all know, I’m studying points & miles all day. I work with clients 1:1 to help them book amazing trips all over the world.

(Pretty cool job, eh?!)

And I can tell you one thing with complete certainty.

There is not a rewards program (flight or hotel) that consistently delivers deals like World of Hyatt.

The program is literally points for dummies. You almost always get 2+ cents per point.

I cannot recommend it enough - it absolutely pains me to use Chase points for anything but Hyatt.

I’m staying at a $1,200/night Hyatt next month - just paying 21,000 points per night. This stuff is nuts.

My biggest hack to earn Chase points (that transfer to Hyatt)?

Chase Business Cards. I love my Ink Unlimited and think it’s one of the best overall cards to have, when paired with a Chase Sapphire Preferred or Reserve.

Remember, you have until March 25th to book Hyatt hotels at their current price, I’d do it!
